How to use JSON ↔ CSV

Paste data or choose a file; a selected file takes precedence over pasted text. Choose the direction and delimiter, then Convert. For JSON input, enable NDJSON only when each non-empty line is a complete JSON object.

Reproducible example

Load example and convert the two sample objects to CSV. The address.city column contains Santiago and São Paulo. For the reverse direction, select CSV to JSON and load the CSV example. CSV values remain strings.

Limits and file handling

JSON numbers use JavaScript precision. Arrays inside records remain JSON text. CSV has no native nested structure or type information. Reverse conversion keeps flat column names and strings rather than reconstructing nested objects. Input is held in this page only and is not saved in browser storage. Clear removes inputs and outputs; navigating away does not transfer them to another tool.

Nested objects, Excel and safe CSV exports

Nested fields use dotted column paths. Literal dots in property names become ~1 and literal tildes become ~0 to avoid collisions. You may enter a comma-separated list of these paths to choose columns and their order. Missing values and null become empty CSV cells. Use the UTF-8 BOM option for Excel and select the delimiter appropriate for your spreadsheet locale. Formula protection prefixes potentially executable spreadsheet cells with an apostrophe; disable it only when you understand and trust the values. CSV parsing supports quoted delimiters and line breaks and rejects inconsistent row lengths or duplicate headers.
